Hi, I am a HubPages Addict...

I am here to show you how simple it is to create and personalize your HubPages profile picture.

Everyone loves to leave a positive first impression of themselves. What better way than to create your own personal avatar for your HubPages profile. It maybe a personal picture of yourself that you wanted to brush up. It may be a loving pet that has past. Or, it may be a picture you fell in love with and want to personalize. It doesn't take long, just a few steps, you will have created an avatar to your liking that is a piece of your personality. In order to create my own avatar for my profile, I went to a website called Picnik. In a few somewhat simple steps, I had a number of pictures to place on my profile or my hubs.

The first step I took was going to the website Picnik.com.

Step One

Second step

The second step was to upload a picture from my computer that I wanted to use for my hub or profile.

Step Three

Step three was browsing through my pictures to decide what one I wanted. Then I clicked on the picture to be altered to fit my taste.

Step Four

Now, I have my photo of choice. (This will show up under the edit button) I need to crop it to the size that I would like. This means getting rid of any annoying dates, time, or undesired background. Once that is done, I click on the auto-fix button to sharpen my picture up.

Step Four

Step Five

Step five is where the creativity sets in. Click on the create tap. Take a few minutes to browse through the buttons, selecting different styles that suite you.

Once you have determined the style of your avatar, creat a professional look or go hog wild with a cute saying or doodles.

Last Step...Don't forget to save.

Now you are done and ready to post your avatar on your profile or hub. The last step is to make sure to save your work in a folder on your computer, (I do mine in a HubPages folder, under my pictures.) so that you will have easy access to it when you are ready for it. If your picture is too big, just adjust the size of the picture with the bar on the left. Hit save!

There you are...your own personal avatar for your HubPages profile or hub.

This is tlpoague wishing you happy hubbing!

Thanks Real for the votes!

I love this website. It is so much fun to be so creative. I just wish I could get my daughter to join HP. She is so talented and the one that has been showing me all this cool stuff. I am always asking her to edit something if I can't get my flow going. Great kid! Now I am rambling again.

I am glad to help ya out! Thanks again for the votes!

You really did! I know what you mean, I love hub too! I'd like to see what your daughter has to write too she must be smart:). It makes me laugh too because my girl is always checking out my page and tells me what she thinks I should do next! That's awesome!

Thanks Real,

I will let her know, I stoled her ideas and used them for my hub...Amusing Teen Lines. She is always coming up with funny stuff and does some amazing poetry. (Then claims she hate to write...LOL!)

Thanks Katrinasui and Fucsia for your comments.

I hadn't thought about personalizing my profile until I was looking at my daughter's facebook. I loved her look so much that I had her show me how she did it. After that, I was hooked...

Have you written about the new business here on Hubpages?

tlpoague profile image

tlpoague Hub Author 6 months ago

Thanks Debby,

No I haven't. We went most of this summer applying for financing and grants, but didn't get approved of any till September. Since the business we do is summer events, it is a scramble to find work to hold us thru the winter. Unfortunately at the moment, we don't have internet to take with us, so I can't work on HP like I would have liked.

It is disappointing for me to not be able to read other's hubs and respond to them like I would like. Hopefully as things settle down a bit, I can be more active. I have been thinking about writing about the business, but just haven't set it into motion yet.

Alt-PrtSc would capture Screenshots of what you are doing here.

It appears you took several pictures of your monitor while going through this how to. Just something that might help as you continue.

By opening Paint in Windows, selecting Edit-Paste, you can work with the screenshot images.

Another good site would be Pixlr. It is also a free image editor.

Enjoyed It.

Thanks for the tip. When I was making the hub, I was having an issue finding the screen shots on my computer. Finally frustrated, I took my own photos of my screen with my camera. I will have to try that again. I have never heard of Pixlr, so will have to check it out. Thanks again for the help!

Unfortunately, I went to picnik.com and found out that it is closed. It gave a link to Google but it was more of a how to than anything. Is there any other site you can suggest to jazz up my profile picture?
