I need help! I can't get my edit and linking to work.

That is how I felt for the last couple of weeks trying to figure out why I couldn’t edit or link my hubs.
It began with a simple click on the box to enter the URL code to link a page to my hub, in which the little box wouldn‘t pop open. The curser would just bounce to the top of the page. Then I noticed it migrated to highlighting a word or phrase to delete and it wouldn’t delete. The curser would just scroll to the top of the screen again.
On the first day when I noticed this issue, I brushed it off as being tired from reading and writing. I have a tendency to read so much I send myself down a migraine path. So, I gave up the good fight and headed to bed.
On day two, I looked over my work and wondered what button I might have pushed that would have caused this error. I still couldn’t figure it out but decided it was time to update my updates and run my anti-virus. When this didn’t work, I started to get fidgety. (I can’t stand it when things go wrong.)
This seemed like a simple fix. So why couldn’t I find it? (I am one of those fix it and forget it people. I may have fixed it once but forgot how….it happens all the time when I am baking. I was once told it was a sever case of CRS.)
By day three, my husband stopped what he was doing to look over my issue. I was like a spoiled two year old by now, stomping my feet, yanking the ends of my hair, pointing and yelling. Meanwhile, my husband was sitting at my computer trying to analyze my garbling about clicking on a box to link and it wont link, but instead scrolls to the top of the page. He tested it out and had the same effect as me. He then tried to highlight a word or phrase to edit by backspacing. Instead of the word deleting, the curser would scroll back to the top of the page. I stood by his side pointing and raving like a banshee wondering why it wasn’t working and thinking he didn’t get what I was saying. Patently he started explaining to me the big words of Java script, HTML, and other wonderful stuff I had no clue about and told me to contact HP headquarters. Defeated, I stubbornly stomped my foot , then posted a cry for help. ( It was going to be death to my computer.)
Before long, I had posts from Fawntia, Cagsil, and Website Examiner all eager to help me with my dilemma. I cheered!
Until it turned out that I needed to go higher up the ladder to the uber Team Tech Support of Hubpages. I felt like having a meltdown. After a few corresponding emails and much needed advice, I finally scrapped the IE I was using and went to a different one. (By now, I am nearly bald on one side, have a caffeine high and gained fifteen pounds from eating bags of sunflower seeds.) Gratefully, I can now post hubs again!
I found out after doing some reading and research, that I had a corrupted IE and needed to wipe and reload my computer. (Now I am bald on both sides, gained another fifteen pounds, and was told to lay off the coffee.)
I would like to thank the team and family of HubPages for helping me solve my problem, so I may continue with my addiction.
I would like to thank my patient hubby for putting up with all my ranting and pointing.
To my readers, I am dreadfully sorry for the delays.
Now, I guess I am off to work with a fresh cup of coffee, bag of sunflower seeds and a bottle of memory pills! I so hate issues!

- Live Chat on HubPages?
I was surfing through HP forums and thoughthmmI wonder what it would be like to have live chat on HP? I think it would be a handy gadget to have, each forum with its own live chat. But, I bet it would be mass chaos. Spam messages everywhere.... - Addicted to HubPages Yet?

Welcome back to the hubs. I relate!!! My laptop froze up last week. After hours of availing nothing but frustration I decided to use my desktop. I was so grateful that was OK. I was on my desktop for days and grateful but boy missed the laptop. I Prayed. My husband tried to no avail. I prayed again. I heard the small still voice. It was truly a gift I was being led. I have no idea what I did but I did delete a bunch of programs I did not use for starters. After an hour I was on my laptop again. Praise GOD.Whoa I just love Him.
Great hub!! I think most can relate. Thank you for sharing. I love the picture, makes me laugh. Go back to your addiction that is so true. Love ya already. Hugs.
I hat when it's problematic like that. luckily, it doesn't happen often here
I am glad you got it straightened out and continued on HubPages. I had the same problem with IE a while back and switched to Firefox. I've had no problems since. Thanks!
When thinkgs go wrong like that it makes me crazy. Fortunately we have a terrific here on hubpages that will rush to your rescue. It's funny how we become so addicted.
I also hate it when things like that happen. I have just had to switch to my old laptop right now because the new one running Windows 7 has just locked me out! Luckily I still have this laptop to work on. Don't know about other people's experience with Windows 7 but to me it just sucks, truly! This laptop is on XP with which I have experienced no trouble at all.
Glad you got your problem solved. Firefox is just so much better than IE.
Love and peace
Tony
Haha. I did't even know what IE was until I read the other comments. I've had trouble with IE and with Firefox. Glad your problem got solved!
