Paranormal Activity: Haunted by a Real Ghost

She tucked the blankets tight around him. Her beautiful bundle of joy. She leaned in closer to brush a kiss upon his cheek. At only a month old, she could tell he was going to be a heart breaker when he was older. She smiled one last time as she turned to leave, shutting off the light, and quietly closing the door without latching it.
These peaceful moments had become precious to her. It gave her a chance to catch up on the small tasks that were often put off. She wandered through the small house picking up clothes, putting away toys, straightening pillows and flipping through a picture book.
A small chill ran down her back. It felt like a cool breeze from a window. She checked each window making sure they were secure and locked. Living in the city had made her paranoid and nervous. Her husband worked nights adding to the tension. Satisfied that things were locked and secured, she went back to cleaning. One hour passed then two when she began to tire.
She crept quietly back into her son's room to check up on him, before retiring to her own bed. She let her thought freely flow as she drifted off to sleep. A cool breeze swayed around her, but her mind drifted off without thought to it. She began to softly snore.
She laid still listening to her surroundings, unsure what awoke her. She thought of her son and listened for his familiar sounds. All was quiet, but something had aroused her from her slumber. Her room was pitch black except for a green glow coming from the TV positioned in the top of the closet. A chill broke out in goosebumps along her neck. The TV was unplugged, so there wasn't a reason for the strange glow. She rolled over and looked into the hall, knowing the light was off. She sat up to look at the curtains of the window. They were shut tight to eliminate any daylight or street lights. Even the blind was still pulled down.
An eeriness settled over her. Something didn't feel right, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was. She gently climbed from bed, checking on her son first, before checking the other rooms for the strange presence that hovered over her. Now fully awake, her mind registered that it felt as if someone had been watching her. It still didn't explain the strange glow that was emitting from the TV in the bedroom. The house felt unusually quiet now, so she turned on the front room TV, and set the volume on low for background noise. She settled in the couch cushions with a blanket wrapped about her.
She hated nights like these. She had been feeling as if someone had been watching her since they had moved into the house a week after her son was born. She wanted to call her husband for reassurance, but chided herself for being such a baby. She closed her eyes, said a brief prayer, and imagined he was sleeping in the bedroom.
Her eyes fluttered open when she felt the cool hand lift her hair from her cheek. Her skin still tingled in a trail from where her stray lock of hair was, to where it came to rest. She fully expected to see her husband leaning over her to peck her with a kiss and was surprise to see no one there.
That was strange? She thought to herself.
She didn't remember falling asleep, but her cheek still tingled which told her someone had touched her. She arose from the couch and looked around the house once again to see if maybe she had missed her husband and he was in the bathroom or bedroom. The house was deathly quiet. No one was around.
Now startled, she called her husband at work asking if he had come home. He calmly listened to her grow hysterical as she relaid what happened to her. He reassured her not to worry, that he would be home on his break to check on them. She shook as she replaced the receiver on its cradle. Still shaking, she peeked into her son's room. He was still snoring softly, but the room now had a chill to it. She went to the heater to check the setting of the thermostat. It was still set on 72 but the bottom reading said the room was ten degrees lower. She rubbed her arms to calm the goosebumps that were forming. She walked back to the phone determining if she should call her husband again.
She felt the air behind her move as if someone had walked by. Quickly she turned, glancing about the front room, kitchen and dinning area. Someone was in the house with her. This thought chilled her to the bone. This wasn't a physical presence that was making itself known. Her cheek still prickled where she was certain someone had touched her.
She watched in horror as a corner of the blanket on the couch fluttered ever so lightly. That confirmed it in her mind...the house was haunted.
She dropped to her knees where she was between the front door and the phone she had just used. Her hands clutched tightly as she began to pray out loud for Jesus her Savior to come and cleanse her home.
The air around her stirred. The room grew a bit colder. She closed her eyes, feeling the presence swirl about her. Her prayer grew in strength as she thought of Jesus and his miracles. This wasn't the first time she had experienced an entity haunting her. She had been but a young teen the first time she has awoke to demons above her bed. It was an experience that few believed happened. She remembered calling upon her Savior then and watching as the demons were expelled from her room.
She felt warm arms wrapping her in a cocoon and the chill being shoved away. She opened her eyes, feeling the heavenly presence surrounding her. Her glow was interrupted by the sound of a key in the lock. She turned to face the door as her husband walked in, concern upon his face. She smiled, with tears in her eyes, as she fell into his awaiting arms.

True story
The story you have just read is a true story. It is an event that happened to me when I was younger. When people talk about God, Jesus, religion and Christianity, I think back to those events that have happened to me over the years. I have a strong faith in God because I have witness his miracles. Some may baulk in disbelief, some may question it, some may want to argue it, but I have come to understand that unless one experiences it for themselves, it is hard for others to accept that these thing can and will often happen.
People are naturally fascinated with the paranormal. Movies and books are made to tantalize and entertain us with the ideas of what if. Is it possible for Satan or ghosts to be roaming the Earth today? I think so.
I am not one to preach my beliefs with anyone, I just merely want to share with others what I have experienced and how God has affected my life.

I do have one question I would like to end this with...If you had known without a doubt that a ghost had lifted your hair off your face, how would you react?

Writing in the third person is a cool and different way to write about experiences sometimes. You've done a very good story with it here tlpoague. It seems no doubt there were some negative presences in that house and no surprise with what had gone on previously. Do you have any Celtic or Native Amer. roots tlp? The reason I ask is it appears folks with one or a combo of the two are more sensitive to picking up these presences.
Hi tipoague,
You really know how to write well. Many people would like to be able to put into words an experience that they've had, but lack the expertise but you certainly know how to grab a reader and hold on right to the end. I haven't had an experience like you did, but I've been in places where the atmosphere was cloying and unpleasant and I knew I had to get out right away. Thanks for sharing this.
This was well written, a fasinating story that captured my attention straight away. Thanks for sharing your experince here with us, so many people (myself included) tend to keep such experiences close to them, without being brave enough to share it with others.
I have to admit... your story gives me chills. I have had a few encounters in my life. When I was younger, my younger sister used to play with our little ghost named Julie. We used to here her playing her jewlery box and laughing. She was a young child. As I grew older, there was an older presence.
In the last house we lived in, we had a kid babysit for us that was sensitive to the paranormal. When we came home, he had every light on in the house and was under a blanket. We thought he was sleeping so we shut the lights off. We woke up in the morning and he was gone. I guess there was an older gentleman with a pipe threatening him. Odd, because occassionally the middle of our livingroom would smell like stale smoke.
Interesting hub! Thanks for the great read!
Scary yes but very real. I wonder who was there though and why? How long had you lived in that place?
I should also mention that I am probably one who ignores it a little more than others. Two of my sister's were always pretty aware of it and when they were sleeping they could swear there was a man standing over their bed trying to choke them. The kid who babysit for us can also draw. He drew up a picture of the man who scared him. I showed it to my sisters and they recognized him as the same one who has been choking them in their sleep. Now that is creepy.
Hello, I just read your hub. For I've had many experiences with spiritual encounters. I am a Christian. AI recently started remembering my past dealing with the paranormal. I wrote about my experiences on of this activity. I have much more to write but all of mine I have always been able to defeated through Christ. I also have had Angels experiences and realize that Christ has Angels that are just as real as the demonic spirits. Angels are much more comfortable. There is no confusion when it comes through Christ.
i have experienced hauntings and i do seyonces every saturday with my friends. But none are as bad as this. nothing that i have seen anyway
I dabbled in the metaphysical when I was a teen, the weji board and all, it scared the living daylights out of me back then. I never really believed in ghosts/spirits. Until back in 2006 driving down a Kentucky back road I witnessed an apparition standing at the back of my 53' trailer I was hauling.
She just stood there staring at me through my passenger west coast mirror. I wrote a poem about that encounter. Graveyard of Lost Souls and 3 more came of it. So yes do I now believe in ghosts/spirits, most definitely. I also have a ghost living in the old house I live in at present. Your hub here has inspired a poem that I will write and I will link this hub to it if you don't mind so many more readers can come and read this experience you had. I love the Paranormal and enjoy watching and reading about it. I know when I cross over I will become a spirit and where I end up only God knows that answer.
This was a great but scary story. In the house we live in now, I experienced several different things, but I no longer do. I used to pray a lot and it finally stopped, but at first there were lots of little things happening. Mostly things disappearing that I never found, many just minutes after I set them down.
Written very well tlpoague, I enjoyed reading your story and believe every word of it. I have had several experiences, mostly harmless but one that had me and my son petrified when he was actually pushed down the stairs. I published a hub on this a while back. So I know exactly how you felt.
I am pleased I found this through Vincent's poem
It must have been frightening to have something actually touch you.
Here is my story and I have added a link to yours to that one.
tlpoague - that is indeed scary. I wouldn't want anything messing with my baby. I'm glad you were able to move and get away from the unease.
Thanks for the link
I believe some people are just more receptive than others.
